At Edwards we like to participate in a wide range of fun and games. The physical development, health and well-being of children is a key aspect in our curriculum.
Through a broad and balanced Physical Education programme, children should develop their knowledge, understanding and skills, enabling them to participate and perform competently and confidently in a range of physical activities.
All children should experience a sense of fun, enjoyment and achievement through a variety activities.
Finn Valley Athletics 2026
On 13th May, 21 pupils took on the finals of the Finn Valley competition. There was tough competition with nearly 1,000 pupils taking part altogether. Everyone showed up in the pouring rain and gave it all they got to try to come home with some silverware. Some pupils were unlucky to just miss out on a medal in 4th place. All of our relay teams won medals which is a tremendous achievement after working so hard on our changeovers leading up to the big day. Scroll down to see results and photographs from the 2 days.

On 5th May, 50 pupils travelled to Finn Valley to take on the challenge of 6 events - sprint, long distance, relays, long jump, javelin and shot put. After 5 weeks of after school training, we were ready to meet our opponents. There were many medals throughout the morning - too many to count - and 20 pupils made it through to the finals on 13th May 2026.

30 pupils travelled to Stranorlar to take part in the Finn Valley Athletics Challenge on Tuesday 6th May 2025. We had a fantastic day in the sunshine and entered a variety of events including sprints, long distance, shot putt, javelin and long jump.
Well done to everyone who took part at the event. Edwards PS came home with 12 medals and 7 pupils qualified for the finals on Wednesday 21st May 2025. Congratulations to all - we are very proud of you!

We held our Sports Days this year on 21st and 22nd May. Well done to all pupils for practising and taking part in their races. It was great to see such a large crowd there to support our pupils. A big thank you to Mrs Igoe for all her hard work with taking and editing the photographs.

Finn Valley Athletics Challenge 2024

Well done to everyone who took part at the event. Edwards came home with 21 medals and 15 pupils qualified for the finals on Wednesday 15th May 2024. This is an amazing achievement, especially for some pupils who won medals in events that they tried for the first time today.

We were very lucky to get fantastic weather for out Sports Days this year on 23rd and 24th May 2023. Well done to all pupils for practising and taking part in their races. There were some very close and exciting finishes for the crowd to watch and it was great to see so many people there to cheer on our pupils. Finn Valley Final 17th May 2023
9 pupils travelled to Finn Valley Athletics Club to take part in the Athletics Challenge Final. Well done to all pupils for taking part and trying so hard for Edwards. We are very proud of you. A special congratulations to Alex Galbraith with a massive throw in the turbo javelin to win gold.

Finn Valley Athletics May 2023
26 pupils travelled to Finn Valley on 3rd May 2023 to take part in a Primary School Athletics Challenge. Well done to everyone who competed with determination and pride for their school. 9 pupils came back with qualifying places for the finals on 17th May - Millie Donald, Emily Gant, Alex Galbraith, Ellie Robb, Robin Lyons, Gaby Lyons, Jaden Hyndman-Williamson, Jenson Burke and Masyn Baxter. A special mention to 4 pupils who won medals - Robin 1st in javelin, Millie 3rd in 500m, Alex 3rd in javelin and Jenson 3rd in javelin.

A big well done to Millie, Jenson and Masyn for representing Edwards PS at the Champions Cup at Finn Valley AC on Saturday 24th September 2022. Millie was 3rd, Jenson was 4th and Masyn was 22nd.
Finn Valley 21st Annual Primary Schools Cross Country 2022
Congratulations to the 22 pupils who took part in cross country at Finn Valley AC. There were approximately 100 pupils in each race. A special mention must go to Under 9 girls - Millie Donald 7th and Skye Lecky 16th. Under 9 boys - Jenson Burke 3rd, Masyn Baxter 13th, Alex Galbraith 18th, Matthew Forbes 20th, Under 11 boys - Noah Clarke 6th. Millie, Jenson, Masyn and Noah have now qualified for the Champions Cup next Saturday at Finn Valley AC. We are extremely proud of everyone!

1 2 3 skip with me..........'Skipathon' Day at Edwards
All classes from Nursery to Year 7 took part in a skipathon challenge - Anna (from 'Dan the skipping man') had shown us some 'tricks of the trade' and now it was time for us to show what we were made of! Lots of fun was had by all. A huge thanks to everyone for supporting this event. (13/11/15)
