SEAG Update

SEAG has released further information regarding test administration for the SEAG examinations.

Pupils will now receive time reminders:

  • At the halfway point of the test
  • When 20 minutes remain
  • When 10 minutes remain

At the end of the examination, pupils will be instructed, "pencils down." We have already begun incorporating these timings and procedures into our practice sessions in school to help pupils become familiar with the test environment.

SEAG has also announced the release of two new practice papers, which will include questions from previous tests. We intend to use these papers as part of our class mock examinations prior to the actual exams.

Hygiene Boxes in Year  7 Toilets

To support our pupils, we supply Hygiene Boxes in the Year 7 boys’ and girls’ toilets. These contain useful items such as spare socks and deodorant for pupils to use if needed.

In addition, the Year 7 girls’ box also includes a supply of sanitary products and hair bobbles.

These resources are there to help pupils feel more comfortable and confident during the school day.

At Edwards Primary School we recognise the importance of keeping safe.  If you haven't already, please download the Safer Schools NI App by using the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.  Your App entry code is:  3243 or scan the QR code above.

Meet the Wonderful Year 7's

World Poetry Day

For World Poetry Day, Year 7 enjoyed a poetry workshop with poet Ian Bland. During the session, pupils explored  writing clues and finding hidden words within words. Some of our pupils were even given the exciting opportunity to perform their work live to an audience connected with almost 100 other schools nationwide.

Flight Investigation

We have been learning about the forces involved in flight - thrust, lift and drag. To investigate how these forces affect movement through the air, Year 7 pupils designed and made their own paper planes. We then tested our planes to see which designs flew the furthest and stayed in the air the longest.

Spacesuit Glove Experiment
Year 7 became space investigators as they explored the challenges astronauts face when working in bulky space gloves. Pupils tested a range of different gloves while completing tasks such as stacking blocks, unscrewing bolts and writing their names. Through the investigation, they discovered how spacesuit gloves can make simple jobs much more difficult and learned why astronauts need specially designed equipment to help them work safely and effectively in space.

Tag Rugby

Thank you to Mark from Strabane Rugby Club for volunteering his time to coach Year 7 rugby.

Mars Rover Investigators
This week, Year 7 pupils became space engineers as they designed, built and tested their own Mars rovers. They explored the challenges of travelling across the rocky Martian landscape and evaluated how well their rover designs could overcome obstacles.
