I want to thank you all for the wonderful home-school learning that has been going on. You have all been superstars and managed so well. #proudteacher
It was so special to see most of you on Friday, (thankfully the sun shone!) Mrs Sproule, Miss Vance and I were delighted to receive your lovely well wishes and gifts. Thank you so much.
Mrs Donaghy and I are excited to be joining you for your Year 7 journey. You will be the oldest in the school! I know that you are ready to be leaders, and will continue to be role models for the younger pupils.
The Year 7 topics are fantastic - Space, The second World War, Fair Trade, Victorians and The Titanic. It is going to be a wonderful year!
Be proud of all you have done and how much you have matured and learned throughout Year 6. It is a year we will never forget!
Have a happy and safe summer, and make wonderful memories - we are looking forward to hearing all about them in August.
Love from Mrs Sproule, Miss Vance and Mrs McKeown xxx

Good morning Year 6
Just a little note from me to say that I hope you are having a good week and are enjoying your end of term activities.
I have started to receive pictures of experiments and I have heard of new land being discovered! I can't wait to see what your creative talents have produced.
It would be lovely to get work from everyone this week, so that we can have a final gallery showcase of your talents! This will be posted on next Monday's final website update.
Wishing Matthew a very happy birthday from Mrs Sproule, Miss Vance and Mrs McKeown x
Week beginning 22nd June
Week 10
A huge thank you to all of you who sent in memories about Year 6. Thank you also for all the song suggestions.
The 'memories' slideshow has been updated with new 'memories' that I received this week, and some new pictures. I had to get the tissues out and I'm sure Miss Vance and Mrs Sproule will be the same!
Enjoy reminiscing!
We are nearly there! As this is our last week of online learning, our activities will be a little different. In the folders you will find some end of year activities, and a challenge to imagine and design your own island. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
Click on the pictures below for some cool experiments.
Having explored San Diego Zoo and Monterey Aquarium, it is time to check in with NASA and learn about life on board a space craft! Next year you will be learning more about space in WAU, so this will give you a headstart.
https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/main/suni_iss_tour.html
All of the tours are really interesting but my favourite was; Harmony, Tranquility, Unity - where you learn where people sleep, eat and use the toilet onboard!
Enjoy your last week and please let me know how you get on with the various activities.
Mrs Sproule, Miss Vance and I are looking forward to seeing you on Friday.
Well done Blaise, Evana and Max for sending in wonderful literacy and numeracy work.
Thank you to Evana, Isaac, Izzie, Sam and Jayden for sending in their WAU work. Isaac has been planting, Izzie, Evana, Sam and Jayden have been learning about deforestation and Jayden has sent an update on last week's mini ecosystem - it looks great Jayden!
Jayden and Evana have been superstars and had a go at making a lung and a rainstick. I'm delighted with you both, great work!!

I hope that you are all keeping well and trying to do a little work each day. Summer holidays are nearly here! I think your parents will be very excited to see them too.
I have popped some recipes, (ice cream and chocolate based - yum!) in a folder and here is a link for making your own rainstick. Some of you might be feeling 'crafty' and decide to give it a go!
Here is a link to a gorgeous short film called, 'The Present.' It certainly gave me a lot to think about!
When you have watched it;
- Discuss why the boy feels the way he does about the dog.
- Discuss why his mother may have bought that particular dog for him.

Week 6
It's Alfie's turn to send you a little message from me - you are all of these things! Stay safe, work hard, have courage and be kind. ♥
Mrs Sproule, Miss Vance and I are so proud of Jayden, Lauren, Izzie, Evana and Aimee. They received certificates from Healthy Kidz for all their hard work and effort with practising for Sports Day, on Saturday 13th June 2020.
Good morning to my class,
Today is a bank holiday so you might not be starting work until tomorrow. If so, enjoy your day off. I think mum and dad will enjoy their day off too!
Thank you so much to those of you who have e-mailed me or sent me work, I really appreciate it and, as always, am delighted with your hard work and effort. It was also good to hear that you were having fun with it!
I have been thinking back to the 'Random Acts of Kindness' that we talked about way back in January. It feels like kindness has never been needed more than now, when things seem strange and uncertain. Small things can make a big difference, so try to think of ways you could show your family and friends that you care. You don't have to be able to see people to be kind to them! Perhaps you could make tea for mum, send a friend a virtual hug or ring granny for a chat.
Most of all though, I want you to practise kindness to yourself. You talk to yourself more than anyone else, so speak kind and encouraging thoughts. Be glad about the things that make you unique and remember how valuable you are to those who love you.
Take care and stay safe,
From Mrs McKeown x
Thank you to Evana, Jayden and Niall for your excellent 'Useless Products.'
Thank you to Leah for sending in her NHS Mascot and 'jar of things to look forward to.' Katie sent a 'doorstep snap' and Beth sent a picture of her new kittens! Thank you also to Lauren - that negative number work looks great!
Rainbow Rice - Thank you Evana and katie, I'm glad you had fun!

Wednesday 29th April
Good morning Year 6.
Well done for all the work you are doing! I
have already seen amazing alphabetical order and a soap experiment in action, (I did that soap experiment too - lots of fun!)
Our Wednesday challenge is to create an NHS mascot. In the folders below you will find an NHS Powerpoint which will help explain how the NHS started and the amazing work it does. (Remember Matthew and Jodie-Leigh; our tired doctor and bossy nurse!!) There is a little quiz at the end to see how much you remembered.
After you have read and thought about the NHS, I would like you to work through the Powerpoint I have made for you. This explains exactly what I am looking for and will allow you to let your creative juices flow! I cannot wait to see your creations – please e-mail me the finished result on rmckeown742@c2ken.net
I have also included a link to BBC Bitesize which provides lovely online lessons to recap on previous learning (for example, yesterday's numeracy was multiplication), or new learning about the World Around Us.
Lots of love from Mrs McKeown x
Useful sites for you to try:
The Maths Factor - with Carol Voderman.
David Walliams is reading some of his stories every day.
If you fancy some cooking try Chef Theo Michael.
Or perhaps you are looking for arts and crafts ideas.

I have made a collage of the things that remind me of us! Some pictures relate to more than one person of course. Can you find yourself - or your friends?
I was really excited to find some favourite books of mine; 'White Fang', '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' and 'Black Beauty' on the Oxford Owl site. You might enjoy them too, or find others that you would like to read.
Lego lovers might like to enjoy doing the 30 day lego challenge.
Click on the link above and follow the instructions for each day. The only rule is to use your imagination and have fun! Take lots of photos. I can't wait to what you create!
