Dancehall Challenge
Congratulations to Year 7 for their excellent performance, alongside St Eugene's Primary School. We enjoyed meeting with and getting to know pupils fro another school.
K'Nex Challenge
Huge congratulations to the four pupils who took part in the SENTINUS K'Nex challenge at Omagh High School today. They were tasked with designing equpiment for a playground, with at least one moving part. Points were awarded for planning, team work and the final build. Alfie and Noah were awarded 3rd place and are through to the finals in Belfast.
The £5 Challenge
Year 7 have been operating their businesses for the past 3 days. From nerf battles and nail art to chocolate fountains and poster printing, the year 7's have worked hard and learned a little of what it is like to operate a business.
Year 7 spent time reading to pupils in Year 1 as part of World Book Day celebrations.
To celebrate AQE results and the excellent verse speaking performances, Year 7 toasted marshmallows and drank hot chocolate one chilly February afternoon.
Congratulations to Amy, India, Jack and Alfie for performing very well in the Road Safety heats in The Guildhall, Londonderry, today. They have been working hard for weeks at Road Safety rules, anagrams and general knowledge. We are so proud of them!
Thank you also to Mrs Donaghy for all her hard work in helping them prepare.

Year 7 pupils did a tremendous job in designing and creating WW2 air raid shelters. They display amazing creativity and diversity. We look forward to testing them later!

Author Visit
This week Declan Carville visited Key Stage 2 to read and talk about his books for children.
Ulster Orchestra Trip
Key Stage 2 enjoyed a trip to the Strule Arts Centre to hear the Ulster Orchestra. We learned about the different sections of the orchestra and the components needed for a good composition.
Remembrance Assembly
Well done to all of the Year 7 pupils who have been selling poppies throughout the week. Edwards pupils have been so generous with their donations!
Today, some Year 7 pupils took part in a service of remembrance with Mr Monteith (President) and Mr Black (Chairperson) of the Castlederg brance of the Royal British Legion. All pupils in Key Stage 2 attended and observed a respectful minute of silence.
Castlederg Apple Fair 2022
Year 7 had great fun exploring Castlederg's Apple Fair this year. They enjoyed delicious treats, outdoor games, stalls and many weird and wonderful creatures!!
Lift Off!
Year 7 made paper planes to investigate the forces of lift and thrust - forces needed to keep a real aircraft in the air.
Congratulations on your Spellathon Success
Year 7 had the daunting task of learning ninety spellings for their Spellathon Challenge. Well done!
Spanish
Year 7 are enjoying Spanish classes with Mrs Lowry on Tuesday afternoons. As well as learning some of the language, they are also learning about Spanish culture.
Tramway Tales
Congratulations to Year 7 for their wonderful performance of 'Morningtown Ride' and for the lauch of the book which they helped to write, in collaboration with St Eugene's Primary School in Victoria Bridge.
Thank you also to the family members who were able to come and share the experience.
Shadow Investigation
We had to make two attempts at our shadow investigation as the rain washed our first attempt away!
By drawing around our shadows in the morning and then standing in the same spot in the afternoon we were able to learn that our shadows change in length and direction during the day, depending on where the sun is in the sky.
Tramway Tales
Year 7 are busy preparing for the launch of the book, 'Tramway Tales', which they helped to write.
In Year 6, they collaborated with pupils from St Eugene's Primary School, Victoria Bridge, taking part in workshops to inspire their creative writing.
They look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 5th October for the official launch.
Celebrating European Language Day
Year 7 students came to school dressed up today and represented countries such as Germany, Portugal, Poland and Scotland. They tried to match flags to languages and discovered different ways to say 'hello.'
A big thank you from Year 7 to the kitchen staff for providing pizza and pancakes for break!
